: : I am looking for a 1950-ish board game. It had a magnetic pyramid/mountain shaped board that was magnetized and the climber pieces had magnets on the bottom to stick to the board as they climbed. It was a Mt Everest game and it might have said, "Sir Hillary presents........". Would like to find and have this game for son.
: The message above is interesting to me because I have been looking for a few years for a game I know dates from 1963 and I think is called "Everest". I had this game for Christmas in 1963 and it retailed then at ten shillings. It consisted of a fold-in-half board that stood on its edge to give the appearance of two faces of the mountain. Plastic hooks and ledges were positioned on the faces of the mountain and the object was to move one of the team of three roped together plastic mountaineers figures (one team orange the other green) to the top. The figures were moved by hooking the back of their hats with a washer fastened to a piece of cotton and thence to a tiny wooden rod (much like a little fishing rod). My search for this game is slowly driving me insane. Can anyone offer any clues as to who made this game or where it can be abtained?
I remember this game also. Loved playing it as a child, in the 'good old days' before TV & Computer games.
Wish I could find a copy somewhere too.
