Hi there
I have a copy of the above board game to sell. A photograph can be found at: http://www.jawaddington.co.uk/chemplay.jpg.
Chemplay by Esso was made in the 1970s. It's in excellent condition, never played by the looks of it, and the box is in very good condition, with only one small split at one corner of the lid. I understand its quite rare! Here's some more info about it:
Summary (from the manual): Chemplay is broadly based on the economic and business concepts of the petrochemical industry, and reflects a number of real industry situations and practices.
By comparison with popular amusement games based on the trading principle, the game structure of Chemplay is very complex .... The principal value of the game is that it enables players' behaviour to be studied under conditions of game stresswhich closely resemble actual conditions in decision making and negotiating situations.
Not only can valuable insights be obtained into personal strengths and abilities, but the game also provides players with a ready means of developing essential personal skills and attitudes.
As in actual business, many of the elements in the game are outside the player's control. Winning or losing are of less importance than the manner in which a player excercises his skill, and the way in which he reacts to the good or bad luck which comes his way.
....On a different level, Chemplay can be of value in recruitment and allied programmes, providing an informal introduction to the petrochemical industry through a game with high intrinsic value.
If anyone is interested in buying it please drop me a line.
